Funds raised from Flower Power 2014 support local gardening initiatives including Growing Chefs: a classroom gardening and cooking program in elementary schools and Central Okanagan Community Gardens (COCG). COCG is a non-profit society that works with local governments to utilize the potential garden space for local residents. Their mission is to help neighbourhoods and communities create sustainable green spaces for gardening, food production, gathering and education.
The Central Okanagan Community Gardens have 15 gardens in total scattered from Oyama, Winfield, around Kelowna to West Kelowna. There are a total of 512 plots including 6 wheelchair plots, 2 herb gardens, 1 free food garden, 10 raised beds for seniors and disabilities and 2 dedicated children’s gardens.
We’re so proud to be supporting this wonderful organization with proceeds from the Flower Power ticket sales.
